This meeting provides an opportunity for caregivers to examine the challenges of their changing relationships with birth parents. It will examine how caregivers can redefine their relationship with birth parents in order to ensure children’s physical safety and emotional well-being and support birth parent efforts to achieve permanency for their children.
During week four we focus on birth families. We read the book, “A Mother for Choco” and provide the children with craft materials, which include construction paper, scissors, googly eyes, feathers, and sequins, to create their own Choco character. Time Capsules are used to promote healthy open discussions about different times in their lives when each child remembers something, special, rough, sad or happy about their birth parents, siblings and/or various family members. We watch Finding Dory and create family frames out of popsicle sticks and family drawings.
