Our executive director, Ali Caliendo, was interviewed at the Foster Kinship office on the City of Las Vegas “Daily Dose” as part of National Foster Care month.
Ali discussed how Foster Kinship is a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization that helps support those that are raising their relative’s children. Nevada is estimated to have over 19,000 children in Kinship care (being raised by a relative). Foster Kinship helps those families by providing support, advocacy, case management, family events, a helpline, and emergency resources. Foster Kinship’s mission is to fill in support gaps and help anyone who’s taking on a relative’s child get all the available supports wrapped around them, so when family is the right placement, they have access to resources they need to help make sure their family is stabilized, keeping the child from being moved to a less familiar environment.
